Hearthstone is Blizzard’s entry into the Trading Card Game (TCG) genre, and it’s a game that very heavily focuses on beautiful animations, dazzling sound effects, and devilish randomness.
We start the game with a set of common rarity cards that we must use in battles against computer opponents to learn the basics and earn our first few packs of random cards.
The goal of each game is to attack the other player directly to bring their HP to zero. And with over 4000 cards, there are millions of possible deck combinations to try out. Most cards have an attack, defense, and playing cost - and some even have special effects like strengthening other cards, dealing instant damage, and much more.
There are also many different PvE and PvP game modes that all have different rules to make the gameplay more interesting and less repetitive.
The game features a ton of great songs, gorgeous card animations, and fun voice acting in lots of languages. New cards and game modes are also constantly being added, so there is always something to do.
Hearthstone monetizes via iAPs for various bundles, a season pass, and more of the gold we also earn through daily quests, which is used to buy new card packs.
The common complaints from the community are that some decks are too boring to counter, while others are pay-to-win and full of expensive cards. In addition, cards with randomized effects are too strong, and if you switch between apps on your phone, there’s a chance the game will crash.
Hearthstone is an easy game to get into, it has almost endless content, and the community is massive. So if you can avoid the monetization, definitely give it a try for a few fun yet frustrating games on the go.
